1. UFSA UNILORIN gets students affairs registration.

The school management of UNILORIN approved the application to become a registered association through the student’s affairs office at December 2015 after much consultation and paying of the prescribed fees plus necessary documents.

2. Books received from CTA

We got some books from the Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CTA), the books would soon be available for all members consumption after a library space has being approved.

3. Membership due payment modalities

All students in the Department of Forest Resources Management, University of Ilorin, Ilorin Nigeria are to pay N500 administrative fees this session. Payment should be made through representative in each class. Note: Defaulters shall pay double in the next academic session to validate their membership status

4. Member seeks attention toward online survey response.

A member (Onatunji Alex B) and by extension the Vice-president of the association makes an appeal on responding to an online questionnaire titled “Career Choice and Development among Forestry and Wildlife Related Students in Nigeria”. The online survey is accessible at CAREER CHOICE AND DEVELOPMENT AMONG FORESTRY AND WILDLIFE RELATED STUDENTS IN NIGERIA

 5. Constitution synopsis

A synopsis of the main constitution guiding UFSA activities can be found below.

UNILORIN Forestry Student’s Association (UFSA)

A.    NAME, ADDRESS AND MOTTO

The Association shall be known as the “UNILORIN Forestry Student’s Association (UFSA)” hereinafter refer to as the Association, Department of Forest Resources Management Student, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin, Nigeria.

The motto of the association shall be "Harmonizing Nature"

B.     GENERAL PROVISION

i.          The Club shall be affiliate to National and International Forestry, Environmental, and other related reputable organisations

ii.         The Association is non-religious and non-ethnic in orientation

iii.        Members shall give moral and technical aids to deserving cases. Aimed at enhancing the progress and good name of the Association.

iv.        All undergraduate in the department are automatic member of UFSA by due payment while packages and green magazine payment and optional.

v.         If any other by-law is inconsistent with the provision of this constitution, this constitution shall prevail and that other by-law shall to the extent of its inconsistent be void.

C.    OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the Association shall be as follows:

a.         To foster unity, promote understanding and ensure the spirit of friendliness among members and staff.

b.         To create awareness among the members and the society at large on the significance of Forestry in environmental development.

c.         To keep members abreast of current trends in Forestry research and applications through affiliation and collaboration with relevant bodies.

d.         Do promote the educational and social advancements of members.

e.         To promote networking and collaboration with forestry students and professionals, and other related renewable Natural Resources disciplines.

D.    MEMBERSHIP

Membership of the Association shall be open to undergraduate students of the Department of Forest Resources Management, University of Ilorin, Nigeria.

E.     RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS

i.          All the members have the right to participate in all the Association’s activities unless stated otherwise.

ii.         All members shall be financially committed to the Association through the payment of dues.

iii.        Whatever ruling is reached on any case/matter by the Congress shall be binding on all

iv.        All members have the right to express their views on any matter regarding the Association through the appropriate channels

v.         Members shall owe obligations to the Association as stipulated in the constitution.

vi.        Awards shall be approved by the congress as appropriate incumbent executives

vii.       All bonafide members of the association have the right to vote and be voted for, excluding 100 level students who have the right to vote but cannot be voted for.

F.     PRIVILEGES

All bonafide members of the Association shall have the privilege to:

i.                    Participate in the legally convened meetings, social or formal functions of the Association refer otherwise stated.

ii.                  Use the facilities belonging to the Association, subject to the laid down rules of use.
